What have you done to adapt for Covid-19?

Covid-19 has been a challenge in many ways however adapting my practice was not. I already had a stringent cleaning regimen so adding a few additional disinfection steps was an easy adaptation.  I am abiding by the Governors proclamation as well as monitoring local numbers regularly. Requiring masks be worn correctly the entire session, limiting sessions and staggering start times to limit client to client contact. As I have always done we use new linens including blanket for each client. Now additionally I use a new apron and mask with each client and wear protective eye wear. All tools are cleaned with antibacterial soap, treated with an aerosol disinfectant, and UV disinfected. All common areas are regularly disinfected throughout the day as we have always done. If you have any additional questions or concerns please contact me.

II do not bill insurance at this time. If you prefer to use insurance and want a recommendation please let me know, there are several wonderful local therapists who accept insurance.

What will my first session be like?

Your massage therapist may require you to fill out a health history, informed consent, and COVID-19 screening forms. You will have your temperature taken. Afterward the therapist will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on, if there are any conditions needing to be addressed, and to determine What services are appropriate for you.

It is important to list all health concerns and medications so the therapist can adapt the session to your specific needs without doing any harm. It is also important to list any allergies so the therapist is aware if he/she needs to use a different oil or lotion during the session.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

Come ready to relax. For your comfort make sure you have practiced good personal hygiene. If you have hair that may get in the way consider putting it up so it will not distract you. Remove any jewelry that may get in the way or be uncomfortable during your session. Don't forget to bring your mask, for now they are mandatory for you and your Therapist. Your mask must be worn correctly the entirety of your  session and  while you are on the premises. To remain compliant with guidelines and mandates if you are unwilling to wear a mask correctly the entire time, I will be unable to treat you.

What do I do during my session?

Make yourself comfortable. If your therapist wants you to adjust your position, she/he will either guide you or will ask you to move. Otherwise, feel free to adjust anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Often people close their eyes and relax completely during a session sometimes even falling asleep; others prefer to talk. It's up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.

Do I have to be completely undressed?

You should undress to the level you are comfortable. For a full body massage, most get completely undressed. However, if you will be more comfortable during the session if you leave your underwear on, that's fine. The therapist will work around the clothes you left on as best as he/she can. If removing all your clothes makes you too nervous and unable to relax, then you are not getting the optimal benefit from the session.
Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress and get comfortable on the table.

Do I have to listen to nature sounds or flutes, etc.?

Absolutely not. I love to have a variety of music throughout the day. Just let us know what you would like or bring in your own music and we can use it.
